The C60 Production Process
Creating high-quality C60 oil involves several careful steps, from sourcing raw fullerene to dissolving it in carrier oil.
Sourcing Carbon 60
C60 is produced in specialised facilities using one of several methods:
- Arc discharge — Running an electric current between carbon electrodes in an inert atmosphere
- Laser ablation — Vaporising graphite with a laser
- Combustion synthesis — Burning hydrocarbons under controlled conditions
The resulting soot contains a mixture of fullerenes, which must then be separated and purified.
Solvents and Purification
Raw fullerene soot is processed using solvents to extract C60 from other fullerene species. Toluene is commonly used in industrial production because it effectively dissolves C60. The solvent is then evaporated, leaving purified C60 powder.
For consumer-grade C60 oil, the purified powder is thoroughly dried to remove all solvent residues before being mixed with food-grade carrier oil.
Choosing a Carrier Oil
The carrier oil matters for both taste and quality. We use:
- Certified organic olive oil — Rich in polyphenols, well-studied
- Avocado oil — Mild flavour, high in monounsaturated fats
- MCT oil from coconut — Neutral taste, fast metabolism
What to Look For
When evaluating C60 oil quality, consider:
- Oil certification — Organic, non-GMO, and food-grade
- Taste — A pleasant-tasting oil makes daily use easier
- Saturation level — Proper C60 saturation ensures the right concentration
- Purity — Lab-tested for solvent residues and contaminants
Do You Need a Centrifuge or Filter?
For home use, no — quality C60 oil from a reputable manufacturer is ready to use. Centrifuging and additional filtering are production steps, not something consumers need to perform. If you’re tracking dosage precisely, you may want to ensure the oil is well-mixed before each use (a gentle shake is sufficient).
